A Warm Welcome to Our Reception Class
At Edenhurst Preparatory School, our Reception class is where your child’s learning journey begins. Children typically join us in September after their fourth birthday, benefiting from a seamless transition from Edenhurst Nursery or other early years settings.
In Reception, we follow a structured and stimulating programme, ensuring every child builds a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and personal development. Our dedicated team carefully prepares children to move confidently onto National Curriculum work when they are ready.
Small Class Sizes and Individual Attention
Our small class sizes, averaging just 16 pupils, mean your child receives highly personalised attention. With an excellent pupil-to-adult ratio, every child’s unique talents and interests are recognised, nurtured, and encouraged. This individualised support helps foster confidence, independence, and a love of learning from day one.
Specialist Teaching from Day One
Reception children benefit from lessons with our specialist teachers in French, Music, PE, and Swimming. These early experiences ensure pupils become familiar with our wider teaching team and build strong relationships across the school.
Learning Through Play and Discovery
At Edenhurst, we balance academic learning with plenty of play and hands-on experiences. Our popular Forest Fridays and Eco School activities provide regular opportunities for outdoor learning, while themed days, educational visits, and visitors to the classroom bring topics to life.
Extra-Curricular Opportunities
Children can further explore their interests through our wide range of extra-curricular activities, including ballet, drama, and judo. There’s something for every child to enjoy beyond the classroom.
Wraparound Care and Holiday Clubs
We offer wraparound care from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, included in our fees, providing flexibility and peace of mind for busy families. During school holidays, children are welcome to join our Edventures Holiday Club, where fun and learning continue all year round.
