On Monday, 23rd January, Reception celebrated Chinese New Year.
We told the story of the Chinese Zodiac, and learned about how people throughout the world celebrate Chinese New Year. We made Chinese lanterns, and dragons and fans to dance with.
We enjoyed learning and performing our Chinese dances during our party. In maths, we learned to count to 10 in Mandarin, and tried to write our numbers as well.
Fortunately, we have E in our class, who speaks Mandarin, and could help us. At lunchtime, we had a delicious Chinese meal that Melissa cooked for us. That didn’t stop us eating plenty more when we had our party that afternoon! Then, at the end of the day, we took home red and gold lucky envelopes that had a little treat inside.
We all had a fantastic day.
